Will Apple die without Steve Jobs?

As many of you have heard Apple's CEO, Chairman, and Co-Founder Steve Jobs is undergoing treatment for his recently diagnosed Pancreatic cancer. This main question is will Apple die along with Steve Jobs? My belief is a certain no. Regardless of the death of the beloved Mr. Jobs Apple will continue to thrive without anything more than a moment of silence. With such major advances in the video and music editing software used by animation and record studios alike it is hard to believe that apple would fall. Not to mention that it continues every day to grow in popularity, along with Linux, leading me to believe that, even with the vast market share that Microsoft holds, Bill Gates's brainchild Microsoft will be tossed aside for more stable and powerful operating systems. So to make it short and sweet I don't think Apple is going anywhere but up, even without Steve Jobs.

Software Pick: Prism (Ubuntu)

So you say you're a blogger eh? Well do you have your own app for your blog? No you say? And why not?

Okay enough with the questions, this weeks software pick is a program called Prism. Prism allows you to make a shortcut on your desktop that only opens that one web page. For me that is NickTech. For you it could be myspace, facebook, NickTech.... But it happens to be what I like to think of as idiot proof. It's in the Ubuntu repositories and I think it comes standard on Ubuntu 10.04 but if not you can get it in the Software Center.

Here's a picture to give you an idea!

Thanks for reading!

Welcome to NickTech!

Hi and welcome to the first and introductory post to NickTech! Of course I am Nick! I would like to take this first post to share a little about myself and what my goals for Nick Tech are! First my short bio!

I am currently a soldier in the United States Army Reserve, a full time student, and a round the clock geek. I got my first taste of technology from my father in the early 1990's as he had a degree in computer science and, although he was a police officer, maintained a interest in technology. He had a computer in his bed room that he would let me play on. At the time it was mostly stuff like DOOM, Paint, and various other extremely simple programs. And then one day my father brought home a modem and instantly we were connected to the internet and I began to surf the web and mostly read about my favorite TV shows and look at pictures. It wasn't until around 2000 that I actually started playing online games. I got into Runescape in 2000 and played that on an eMachines computer that ran it decently with AOL dial service. I have been a social machine with technology ever since. I joined the Army in December of 2009 and I still love it. I recommend the military to anyone who wants to go to college, wants to serve their country, or just wants a life experience.

Now on to my goals for NickTech.
  • To provide generally good information to the public.
  • To conduct good research so as to provide accurate information.
  • To induce a fun feeling to the reading of the material posted here.
  • To once day start a NickTech website fully and then have a thriving community behind it.

My promise to you is that I will always answer your comments no matter how many there are and how big this gets. Thank god for the little man.

Thank you and enjoy!

Nick.
